Akemi Matsunae
Born in 1956. After working as an assistant to Yukari Ichijo, she debuted in the April 1977 issue of Lyrica. She later became a prominent figure in Bouquet magazine.
Her hit work Pure-hearted Crazy Fruits broke the mold of traditional shōjo manga heroines with its glamorous visuals and comical characters.
Matsunae's signature expressive lettering, lavish page compositions, and richly detailed color illustrations greatly influenced future generations of shōjo manga.
