Keiichiro Hirano
Since his brilliant debut, when his debut work "Eclipse" won the Akutagawa Prize, he has continued to write a diverse range of works that strongly reflect the times.
Recently, his works have been translated into many different languages, and it seems that the time has come for them to take a leap forward as "world literature." He is always conscious of his own work's position in literary history, and so he is unique in that he compartmentalizes his own work.
He wrote the Romantic trilogy from "Eclipse" to "Funeral" in his first period, then boldly experimented with literary trial and error in his second period, and in his third period proposing "individualism" and exploring the state of the individual in the modern age. He is currently in the midst of his fourth period, in which he is sharply digging into modern issues while producing bestsellers such as "At the End of the Matinee."
